The British Cement Association (BCA) is the trade and research
organisation that represents the interests of the UK's cement
industry at national and European levels.
In pursuit of its goal of encouraging the greater and
better use of cement and concrete, the BCA has an establishment of
technical and support staff, including leading authorities on
environment, legislation, materials, standards and engineering.
The BCA is made up of four members: Tarmac Buxton Lime & Cement, Castle Cement, CEMEX
UK Operations and Lafarge Cement
UK. Together, they produce over 90 per cent of the cement sold
in the UK around 12 million tonnes in a typical year.
Their 14 manufacturing plants represent a major investment. In
order to operate and manage their businesses, BCA members employ
around 3,400 people directly. A further 15,000 jobs depend
indirectly upon their operations.
The industry launched a Cement Makers' Code in June 2006.
The code sets out the values, ethics and standards that should be
followed by all BCA members in pursuit of all activities. To

BCA's strategic partnerships and links
include: The Concrete Centre, The Concrete Society, British
Precast, Quarry Products Association, Construction Products
Association, CBI & the Trade Association Forum and CEMBUREAU
(the European Cement Association).
