CEMEX UK Operations
CEMEX is a leading
manufacturer of high-quality cement and related products in the UK.
With more than a century's worth of experience, the company serves
all sectors of the construction industry, including concrete
product manufacturers, major civil engineering contractors,
ready-mixed concrete manufacturers and builders' merchants.
In the UK, CEMEX's largest cement manufacturing facility is
based in Rugby, Warwickshire, where cement has been produced since
the 1860s. In the 1990s, a number of old kilns were closed and
replaced with a modern and award-winning kiln in Rugby that
integrates pollution control in the design and has reduced sulfur
dioxide emissions by 95% compared to the output of the previous
kilns.
CEMEX UK Operations also has manufacturing facilities at
Barrington in Cambridgeshire and South Ferriby in North
Lincolnshire, as well as five marine import terminals.
Much of British
construction draws its strength from CEMEX, with products being
used in housing developments and hospitals, and in vital projects,
such as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link and Heathrow's Terminal 5.
