Land Remediation
Central to the
development of contaminated land in the UK is the reduction in the
reliance on landfill. As remediation options reuse resources in a
sustainable way, they represent a more acceptable environmental
solution, so remediation technologies that involve recycling
contaminated land become more important.
The British Cement Association and British Lime Association
published The Essential Guide to Stabilisation / Solidification for
the Remediation of Brownfield Land using Cement and Lime.
The guide, published in 2004, reviews the process of
stabilisation /solidification using readily available binders such
as cement, lime, pulverised fuel ash and ground granulated
blastfurnace slag. It also considers the technology involved and
provide advice on site practices to be adopted.
