Cement is not so much a star in its own right as a strong
supporting act to concrete, the most universal of all construction
materials.
Cement is the glue that bonds together the coarse and fine
aggregates which then become concrete. As a team they offer not
just strength but huge versatility from a surface on which jumbo
jets can land through to the most beautiful buildings.
The cement and concrete sectors similarly operate as a
partnership. The British Cement Association is one member of a
comprehensive team which together communicates with stakeholders at
all levels from government to schools and from architects to
contractors.
At the heart of this partnership is The Concrete Centre whose
primary aim is to help designers and specifiers to achieve the best
from the product. A single-point of reference on all cement and
concrete products, it provides marketing, research, technical
support, education, training and information services.
British Precast Concrete Federation (BPCF) aims to promote
precast concrete in the construction market, while the Concrete
Society brings together all those with an interest in concrete to
exchange knowledge, promote excellence and encourage
innovation.
The Concrete Society Information Service (formerly Concrete
Information Ltd) offers a world leading information service to the
cement and concrete industry.
