Business Case for Sustainability
Through a business case developed by Forum for the Future, it
has been possible to analayse the overall value of the industry in
terms of environmental, social and economic costs and
benefits. This has enabled the industry to identify the key
sustainability areas on which to focus its attention - the
continuing development of the carbon reduction strategy up to 2050
for contributing to the government policy to tackle climate change;
the recognition of the positive perception from the industry
stakeholders on the benefits of cement in sustainable construction;
the well-being and health and safety of employees and neighbouring
communities; and a reduction of environmental costs and improvement
of the social and economic benefits, not only from cement
manufacturing but through its entire life-cycle over the whole life
of buildings.
